Deputies Assist BPD with Bemidji Arrest

Sgt. Jason Riggs reports county deputies assisted Bemidji Police in arresting 19-year old Brent Roy Cloud on Sunday morning around 7:30am at 2524 Park Avenue NW, unit 3 in Bemidji, at the request of complainant Patience Ann Thoms. Officer Andrew Burford was assisted by several deputies.

Beltrami Sheriff’s Investigate Assault, Burglary

On Sunday at 8:46pm, Beltrami County Sheriff’s deputies assisted Leech Lake Police with a report of an assault from complainant Yvonne Ann Hardy. Leech Lake officers said the victim was not cooperative with law enforcement at 1397 Porcupine Road SE in Cass Lake. Deputies Kyle Nohre, Joshua Arhart and Alison Critchfield responded.
A burglary was reported Sunday evening to Beltrami County Deputy Brian Birt, who responded to 13893 Morningside Lane SE in Bemidji, where Wilber Najjar filed a complaint that the residence’ outbuilding was broken into.

MSP Injury, Accident in Grand Rapids

Minnesota State Police reported an injury accident around 7:54pm Monday evening when a Kia driven by 69-year-old Ardis Lee Luoma of Grand Rapids was heading southbound on Highway 169 near Pear Lake Road when it struck a deer. Ms. Luoma was taken to Grand Itasca Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, according to Sgt. Neil Dickenson.

Tuesday is National Voter registration Day, and Harvard Professor Latanya Sweeney says researchers found vulnerabilities in some voter registration websites. Sweeney says hackers can change personal information and send voters to the wrong polling location.

Dayton, Burgum Meet on Diversion Project

Minnesota Governor Mark Dayton and North Dakota Governor Doug Burgum discussed the Fargo-Moorhead flood diversion project last week. The Department of Natural Resources hasn’t approved the project, and the federal courts put the project on hold until a lawsuit can be settled.

Cass Crash Victims Identified

Update on the 18-year-old victims of a vehicle crash in Cass County last week– they’ve been identified as Pine River’s Brenden Fenstermaker, who died at the scene, and Zachary Munsch, who was transported to a Twin Cities area hospital.
